Three navies fund early production of GPS-independent navigator

BLUF NAVSEA awarded Northrop Grumman $29.2 million for low-rate initial production of AN/WSN-12 shipboard inertial navigation systems and support, with options to $103.6 million. Canada funds 42%, Australia 31% and the U.S. 27%; base work runs to May 2030. The notice does not give system quantities, recipient ships or delivery dates, so the award should not be read as fleetwide installation or operational acceptance.

Navy opens market research for F-35 mission-planning redesign

BLUF NAWCWD is surveying industry for a planned five-year follow-on engineering-support contract for the F-35 Mission Planning Environment redesign, covering architecture, analysis, expertise and programme management. A Navy forecast values the potential effort at $50-100 million, with a January 2027 solicitation and May 2027 award target. This is market research, not a solicitation or award; the Navy says scope is substantially unchanged from the current support contract.

SOUTHCOM sends unmanned systems to Guantanamo support site

BLUF SOUTHCOM has moved unmanned systems to Naval Station Guantanamo Bay to support Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere and begin a training and mission-support site for its Autonomous Warfare Command. The command says teams will integrate systems into operations and return lessons to training and development. It did not identify the platforms, quantities, arrival date, mission sets, readiness level or when the site and new command will be fully established.

Northrop reports first autonomous Talon Blue flight

BLUF Northrop Grumman says its self-funded YFQ-48A Talon Blue completed a first flight at Mojave with autonomous taxi, takeoff, maneuvers and landing and no remote pilot steering it. The aircraft is a company CCA contender after Northrop missed the Air Force's first increment. The company did not disclose the flight date, duration, altitude, speed, autonomy architecture, test objectives or next milestone, and the flight is not an Air Force selection.

JWALA micro-missile program tests two solid rocket motors

BLUF IG Defence test-fired two solid rocket motors for the developmental JWALA micro-missile early on October 3. The company describes a 2-5 km engagement range, 50-5,000 m altitude envelope and future integration with its GRID sensor-to-effector architecture. The test exercised propulsion, not a complete interceptor against a drone; flight guidance, end-to-end engagement, reliability, manufacturability and customer acceptance remain unproven.

Leonidas joins Army open-architecture counter-UAS drill

BLUF Epirus says Leonidas connected sensors and its high-power microwave effector to a broader command-and-control ecosystem during the Army's Operation Jailbreak Falcon Fury. That is an integration disclosure, not a scored weapon trial: neither Epirus nor the Army published the event date, location, C2 system, target count, range or engagement results. A separate Leonidas GV display planned for AUSA is not represented as fielding.

PIT-RADWAR starts Czernica plant expansion tied to San

BLUF PIT-RADWAR signed a roughly 21 million-zloty first-stage contract with Grupa KDM to modernize most production buildings at its Czernica plant, plus about 4.5 million zlotys of company-funded workshop equipment. The broader investment is nearly 90 million zlotys and is linked to Poland's San counter-drone program. PGZ published no first-stage completion date, follow-on award schedule or added output rate; the 170-to-270 workforce rise is a projection.

CX2 launches software-defined Vadris RF-seeking payload

BLUF CX2 introduced Vadris SDR, a software-defined RF payload carried by an FPV drone to detect emitters and display a line of bearing toward their source. The company says it adds ExpressLRS, TBS Crossfire and DJI OcuSync support and that more than 450 earlier Vadris systems reached the Department of War. No government release, detection range, accuracy, refresh rate or current procurement quantity independently confirms those claims.

BAE wins $16 million to add M-Code resilience to JPALS

BLUF BAE Systems received a $16 million Collins Aerospace subcontract to design and develop a DIGAR-500M M-Code GPS solution for Navy JPALS carrier landings. The receiver is intended to operate protected M-Code and older SAASM signals together for mixed aircraft fleets and improve anti-jam and anti-spoof resilience. BAE did not disclose receiver quantity, development completion, test plan or fleet delivery date; this is development work, not an operational upgrade declaration.

JIATF-401 awards $38.2 million counter-UAS training contract

BLUF JIATF-401 awarded OWT Global a counter-small-UAS mobile-training contract with an estimated $38.2 million ceiling. The work covers deployable training teams, curriculum, instruction and synchronization across the services, applying combat-zone lessons to installations and operating environments. The ceiling is not money already obligated or proof of completed training, and the Army did not publish task-order quantities, locations or a performance period.
