Today’s update follows two newly reported directed-energy and automated-gun paths for countering drones, a major PAC-3 seeker production action, allied sensor and interceptor scale-up, and two joint-force milestones. Two cards are substantive updates to earlier coverage; planned sales, memoranda, prototypes and reported combat results remain distinguished from delivered or independently validated capability.

Ukraine reports first jet-drone kills by automated gun turrets

BLUF Ukraine's Air Force says automated machine-gun turrets using machine vision have achieved their first reported kills of jet-powered drones, including a Geran-5. Twelve turrets were reported installed around Kyiv and eight more planned nearby. The spokesperson acknowledged their short range, and the sources provide no engagement count, telemetry, model confirmation or independent verification.

What changed: Ukraine's Air Force now reports that machine-vision gun turrets have achieved their first kills of jet-powered drones, adding a distinct operational response to the earlier field report on the threat and interceptor bottleneck. Previous coverage

Saab and Kraken sea-trial autonomous maritime drone-seeker prototype

BLUF Saab and Kraken have produced and sea-trialed an autonomous K3 Scout surface vessel carrying a Giraffe 1X radar as a deployable maritime counter-UAS sensor. The companies say the prototype took less than seven months and targets ports, shipping and offshore infrastructure. No customer, order, detection range, trial score or operational fielding decision was disclosed.

U.S. clears three prospective Middle East missile-support packages

BLUF Three possible foreign military sales would provide the UAE up to 10,000 APKWS II guidance sections, Kuwait up to $400 million in Patriot missile repair-and-return support, and Egypt up to $832 million in Javelin systems. These are congressional notifications and maximum estimates, not signed contracts, obligated funds, deliveries or confirmed final quantities.

JIATF-401 selects four directed-energy systems for homeland pilot

BLUF JIATF-401 has named four laser and microwave systems for an operational homeland counter-drone pilot coordinated with the FAA, NORTHCOM and the services. The selection moves the program beyond site planning, but it is not a production award or fielding decision. Performance, cost, sustainment and integration data will be evaluated, with more systems still eligible after a December shoot-off.

Boeing receives $14.7 billion action to triple PAC-3 MSE seeker output

BLUF Boeing says an approximately $14.7 billion undefinitized Lockheed Martin contract action formalizes a seven-year plan to triple PAC-3 MSE seeker production. The supplier began factory investment and hiring earlier this year. Because the action is still undefinitized, the announcement does not disclose final terms, annual quantities, delivery schedules, current obligation or achieved production rate.

German-backed package scales Ukrainian interceptors, missiles and radars

BLUF Ukraine and German industry announced a connected air-defense scale-up: German financing for several tens of thousands of Quantum Systems interceptors made in Ukraine, a HENSOLDT memorandum for further radar deliveries and development, and broader documents covering missiles and precision weapons. The releases mix an announced order with memoranda; they do not show deliveries, schedules, final values or accepted performance.

USS Ted Stevens joins the fleet with SPY-6 and Aegis Baseline 10

BLUF USS Ted Stevens has entered active service as the Navy's second Flight III Arleigh Burke-class destroyer. Its AN/SPY-6(V)1 radar, Aegis Baseline 10 combat system and expanded power and cooling add simultaneous air and ballistic-missile-defense capacity to the fleet. Commissioning activates the ship; it does not by itself establish deployment readiness or combat-system performance.

Lithuania installs SkyFortress acoustic network for national testing

BLUF Lithuania will install and test Ukraine's SkyFortress passive-sensing network for low-flying drones and cruise missiles. The summer contract covers sensor-data processing, non-classified acoustic and radio-frequency signature libraries, and personnel training. Testing will determine performance in Lithuania, so the announcement is not evidence of national coverage, operational acceptance or a validated detection rate.

Army creates Futures and Autonomous Systems Command implementation path

BLUF The Army has issued its implementation path for the Pentagon's autonomy push: establish FASCOM, designate a Portfolio Acquisition Executive for Autonomy, integrate systems across six formation areas and prioritize autonomous fires, vehicles, watercraft, breaching, ISR and teaming by FY2028. The directive sets organizations and goals; it does not yet publish force structure, funding, leadership or fielded quantities.

What changed: The Army has now translated the department-level Autonomous Warfare Command announcement into a service implementation: FASCOM, a Portfolio Acquisition Executive for Autonomy, formation priorities and an FY2028 fielding objective. Previous coverage

NPS reports field progress for passive boat-based counter-drone fusion

BLUF NPS says its compact boat-based counter-drone prototype demonstrated passive RF cueing, autonomous visual search and tracking of an RF-dark drone, and radar ingestion through the ODIN fusion engine during September experimentation. The wider August JIFX logged nearly 200 UAV sorties. These are prototype field results, not a procurement, NATO certification or operational deployment.
